Game Theory and Its applications in Computer Science

- Abstract:
Game theory has been successfully applied in economics, social and political sciences. Recently, it is also successfully applied and studied in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. In this talk, I will introduce the fundamental ideas of game theory such as Nash equilibrium, prisoner’s dilemma, tragedy of commons, Shapley value and Nash bargain solution. Also, some recent applications in video coding, error concealment for videos, ad hoc network and social network with game theory will be addressed.

Life is like a game and a game is like life between virtual and real

- Abstract:
In this talk I will do a brief survey on the agent-based issues and techniques in constructing entertaining and educating video games and interacting virtual drama. In particular I will address the issues of agent-based story-telling or narrative generation in virtual drama. It will cover our recent research on how virtual agents can generate narrative based on social planning and dialogue interactions with social context awareness in virtual drama based on speech act modeling.
