Informatics Seminar (Perspective in Informatics 4B) 2010 - 2011
November 26 (Fri), 16:30 - 18:00
- Place:
Lecture Hall 1, Faculty of Engineering Bldg. No.10, Main Campus
- Title:
The Stable Roommates Problem: Results Old and New
- Speaker:
Rob W. Irving (University of Glasgow)
- Abstract:
The so-called Stable Roommates problem has its origin in a seminal paper of Gale and Shapley dating back almost 50 years, and the first polynomial-time algorithm for the problem was discovered some 25 years ago. However, variants of the problem remain a source of challenging algorithmic questions to the present day. In this survey talk, aimed to be accessible to a general audience, I will cover both the main historical results and a range of recent developments.
