Informatics Seminar (Perspective in Informatics 4B) 2010 - 2011
July 9 (Fri), 16:30 - 18:00
- Place:
Lecture Hall 1, Faculty of Engineering Bldg. No.10, Main Campus
- Title:
Combinatorial characterization of generic rigidity of frameworks
- Speaker:
Shin-ichi Tanigawa (Kyoto University)
- Abstract:
The theory of rigidity/flexibility of frameworks (i.e., so-called
truss structures in structural engineering) has a wide range of
applications in applied geometry, e.g., in molecular conformation
problems, in computer aided design, and in localization problems of
sensor networks. One of the main topics in this field is to provide a
combinatorial characterization of generic rigidity and to develop an
efficient combinatorial algorithm for calculating the
degree-of-freedom based on it. In this talk, I will give a brief
introduction to this topic, and then I will show our recent work on
molecular frameworks. (Joint work with N. Katoh.)
