Professor Bein holds a Ph.D. (Dr. rer. nat.) from the University of Osnabrueck, Germany.
He has been on the faculty of Duke University, the University of New Mexico,
the University of Texas at Dallas, and was a Consultant with American Airlines,
before joining the faculty at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. (His UNLV page is here.)
His research interests are in on-line algorithms, combinatorial optimization,
adaptive algorithms and heuristics; scheduling; greedy algorithms, as well as in
parallel architectures, VLSI layouts.
He also is interested in open souce projects.
